The DevRel team at Docker serves as the bridge between Docker and its community of 14 million developers. We strive to help organizations and development teams discover the value of a containerized approach to software development using Docker, by enabling the individual developers.. We focus on both the current generation of developers and the 15 million developers that will be entering the industry over the next 10 years. The challenge is great, but so are the opportunities!

About the Role

In this role, your primary focus will be maturing our relationship with the many open source projects and key open source foundations who currently use Docker or are part of our sponsored open source efforts. You will be key in gaining a clear understanding of these projects needs and how current and future Docker products can fulfill these needs.
You will identify opportunities for collaboration between Docker and open source projects, to co-brand, position and lead to win-win outcomes. You will closely work with Marketing and Brand leaders to tell the story of how Docker supports FOSS globally.

 

A successful candidate is passionate about open source and the commercial opportunities that lie in establishing meaningful partnerships. They will have a clear understanding and empathy for open source developers and maintainers and a clear understanding of the different phases of SDLC and how Docker products fit into these.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish strong relationships with key open source projects and foundations
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration within the open source ecosystem and execute initiatives
  • Work closely with partnering open source projects to find the right Docker Products for their needs

 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable of workflows and tooling of open source projects
  • Detailed understanding of the open source ecosystem
  • Experience in establishing marketing partnership models

 

What to expect in the first 30 days:

  • Meet the team and others across the company
  • Understand and help shape the team mission
  • Start exploring the needs and challenges of our current Open Source programmes
  • Meet with the Docker Captains

 

What to expect in the first 90 days:

  • Evaluate our Open Source programmes structure and start executing on smaller scale initiatives to drive desired outcomes
  • Find data sources and opportunities to understand the opportunities and challenges in our current Open Source programme
  • Start to define a roadmap for your area

 

What to expect in the first year:

  • Gained full autonomy to drive changes across our Open Source programmes and initiatives
  • Established an ongoing collaboration with key stakeholders across the product, engineering and marketing
  • Partner with product to deliver unique insights and feedback
