Introduction

J.P. Morgan’s Green Economy Banking team was launched in 2021 to support the development and growth of exciting companies at the forefront of the energy transition that are advancing decarbonization through innovative technologies in sectors including Renewable Energy, Efficiency Technology, Clean Mobility & Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging, Energy Transition Enablers, Agriculture & Food Technology and Sustainable Finance.

The group provides holistic banking services to companies across the climate transition space, from traditional banking products and corporate finance matters to strategic assignments including Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), equity and debt capital raising (ECM & DCM). Sitting in the Commercial Bank, the Green Economy team is able to support clients across their growth trajectory from early-stage venture capital backed clients through to mid-cap publicly traded companies with revenues up to €2bn.

The Green Economy Banking team is part of a multi-faceted eco-system at J.P. Morgan that focuses broadly on the client coverage of companies taking an active role in the energy transition across EMEA, whilst supporting J.P. Morgan’s commitment to building a more sustainable and inclusive economy including through the acceleration of the transition to low-carbon world.

Job Summary

As a Vice President/Junior Executive Director in the Green Economy Banking team, you will be an experienced banker capable of promoting business independently. You will have proven client relationship skills and an ability to call at the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Chief Financial Officer (CFO) level. Strong corporate finance, credit, and transaction execution skills are required. Investment Banking experience is ideal. Prior banking experience in European Union (EU) markets is preferred, with strong knowledge of the local market. This position will be based in our Paris office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue and close sales opportunities for a broad range of financial products and services for climate transition clients across the EU (primarily France and Benelux region)
  • Initiate and maintain strategic dialogue with clients and prospects to generate ongoing corporate finance, treasury services and credit opportunities
  • Become an integral part of J.P. Morgan’s broader clean energy and ESG ecosystem and establish oneself as the local champion on these topics
  • Manage complex, multi-product client relationships as the primary relationship manager
  • Proactively market clients and prospects; represent CCBSI’s Green Economy Banking team in the local banking and business communities and develop a network of referral sources
  • Collaborate with credit underwriting team on analysis, structuring, negotiation, and documentation of credit requests
  • Coordinate the efforts across multiple internal business partners and stakeholders
  • Strictly comply with all regulatory and JPMC rules, policies, and procedures

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Extensive experience as a Client / Relationship Manager selling corporate finance or commercial banking products and services, or coming from a Markets Coverage background
  • Knowledge of the French and European Green Economy sectors (France market experience is highly preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience in Investment Banking is highly preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate extensive leadership abilities in financial services sales and business development
  • Solid credit, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications abilities
  • Knowledge of credit, corporate finance, treasury, investment banking, and other banking products; preferably with execution experience
  • Self-motivated, dependable and intelligent
  • Candidate must be a top individual contributor, with a strong performance track record
  • MBA or equivalent preferred
