J.P. Morgan is increasing its Valuation Control Group (VCG) presence in the EU with a vision to consolidate the team fully responsible for the oversight of all Valuation Control aspects for the Firm’s European legal entity and be the primary face off to key stakeholders including Front Office traders, internal audit, external audit and European regulators. Paris and Warsaw serve as strategically important post Brexit locations, being the European hubs for Valuation Control organization.

We are seeking an experienced, innovative, proactive and independent candidate to work in the Valuation control team in Paris. We expect the successful candidate to navigate complex issues, drive impactful change and communicate with a senior audience. The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is organized along business lines including Corporate & Investment Bank (Macro Products, Credit, Equities, Securitized Products, IB Risk), CIO, Treasury & Corporate (CTC), Asset Management, Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) and Commercial Banking (CB). Clients of the group include senior management, business heads, regulators, and both internal and external audit.

The successful candidate will locally report into the Head of Valuation Control Group for the European Coverage and functionally into the respective EMEA Valuation Control lead.

Summary:

  • Vice President position for Equities business in Paris
  • Own and oversee the valuation control process and methodology including: price verification/benchmark process, fair value adjustments, prudential valuation adjustments, fair value hierarchy…
  • Assist with various VCG established practices and control initiatives as well as perform necessary work relating to management reporting, regulatory mandates and consistency within the broader VCG framework
  • Partner with various functional groups on valuation related issues and develop/implement appropriate measures with the goal of ensuring fair value
  • Enhance existing control framework including reviewing independent pricing processes, assessing potential coverage developments and implementing new tools to enhance control efficiency
  • Other value-added projects related to Business, Risk, and Finance initiatives

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Prudential Valuation experience is a requirement
  • Graduate degree with finance, economics, mathematics or engineering
  • Ability to understand complex products, and analyze transaction and process flows
  • Understanding of valuation concepts as they pertain to financial products and derivatives, basic accounting knowledge
  • Analytical and quantitative aptitude. Candidates with quantitative backgrounds preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Visual Basic, automation and database skills a plus
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently
